Welcome to the ITC-ILO International Labour Migration website!

Migration is an important global phenomenon, with the number of migrants in the world estimated at 210 million in the year 2010. The majority of migrants are migrant workers and their family members.

While labour migration can serve as an engine for development, the process of migration often leaves the migrant workers and their dependants in a vulnerable position. There is a need to raise awareness of sufficient solutions for maximising the positive effects of labour migration, and for minimising its negative impact on societies and individuals.

The International Training Centre of the ILO organises training courses to facilitate the capacity building of constituents working in the field of labour migration, with the aim to advance the extension of Decent Work to all migrant workers.

We learned about labour migration, public policy and social actors as well as the relevant international agreements and conventions. The course was also a great opportunity to meet colleagues from different continents who work with labour issues on a daily basis.
